Product Description A newborn bird's identity crisis takes him on a quest to find his real mother.
Amazon.com Review This is the classic from which many of our staff first learned to read, starting us on a path of unremitting bibliophilia. iAre You My Mother?/i follows a confused baby bird who's been denied the experience of imprinting as he asks cows, planes, and steam shovels the Big Question. In the end he is happily reunited with his maternal parent in a glorious moment of recognition.

"Are You My Mother" - a classic January 2, 2009 "Are You My Mother" is a fun little picture book with simple text, an amusing story line and adorable art. It was a family favorite when my daughter was a tot, and when I discovered it was out of print, I was delighted to find a second-hand copy for my 5 year old grandson, who knows a good story when he sees one.
Baby Bird and Mother January 1, 2009 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is a children's book and it is absolutely the sweetest book I've ever read. It is about a baby bird hatching and then finding its mother in this big world. The mother feeds the baby (brings it a worm).br /br /When I read this book to my children, we compare the bird to them (the child) and compare the worm to the mother's milk. When our children are first born, they immediately find their mother and immediately get fed.br /br /I just cannot sing enough praise for this book. I like giving this book as a gift at baby showers. If you have a small child, I would definitely recommend it.br /br /Awesome!
traumatic and horrifying December 1, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
While i can understand the usefulness of this book for parents of adopted children, when i was little i thought it was just AWFUL!br /br /I always hated that book, and it made me terrified of getting lost and not being able to find my mother (not that i was ever in any danger of being out of her sight for 1 minute...). I remember thinking that the story was cruel and calloused, and i felt so sorry for the poor baby birdie.br /br /To this day (25 yrs later), my mother, sister and I, still joke about being traumatised by "are you my mother?", and refer to it as "that awful book". br /br /If your kids like it, that's fine, but i will never buy this book for my kids.
Great beginner "MaMa Book" September 23, 2008 This is the one of my 19 month's old favorite book. He will point to it and say "Mama Book" and will sit still listening to me reading this book from the beginning to the end. He loves the pictures and Snort looks like Jack (from the Thomas the tank engine) so he is very happy to see Snort. This is an excellent book to introduce a toddler to reading.
Great Children's Book September 14, 2008 Are You My Mother?br /br /This is a great book for young children. I loved it as a child and my grandsons love it. br /br /
