Product Description The world's most curious monkey investigates new wordsBRin this lively picture dictionary for young children.BRBRCurious George's Dictionary is an engaging picture dictionary speciallyBRdesigned for children from preschool through first grade. BothBRentertaining and educationally sound, it features charming illustrationsBRand reflects recent research in early childhood literacy, setting it apartBRfrom other picture dictionaries.BRBRThe main part of the dictionary is an A-Z section containingBRapproximately six hundred words, six words to a page. Each word isBRillustrated with a full-color drawing, most of which have been created forBRthis book by the popular illustrator Mary O'Keefe Young. More than halfBRthe illustrations include a sample sentence that puts the word in a familiarBRcontext.BRBRA four-page illustrated story at the front of the book shows GeorgeBRlearning how to look up words in his dictionary, drawing children in whileBRintroducing them to dictionary skills. At the end of the book, seven one- toBRtwo-page illustrations present groups of words related by simple themesBRsuch as colors, shapes, and numbers.BRBRDeveloped in collaboration with educational consultants, the wordBRlist includes not only concrete objects but many more abstract concepts,BRlike discover and enough, than do other picture dictionaries. Such wordsBRare essential for vocabulary development, and Curious George's anticsBRbring them alive, making them easy and fun for children to learn.

Curious George Dictionary December 1, 2008 Revised classic from yester-year.br /Best suited for pre-kindergarten br /child.br /br /Sturdy hardcover br /cute illustrations
Fabulous... even for 2-year-old November 24, 2008 My 28-month-old loves Curious George, and he now loves this dictionary. He enjoys pointing to pictures and asking "What's George doing now?" Within a few days of receiving the book, we had covered every page.br /br /The words in this book are pretty basic, and the visuals match the words very well. For young kids who love George, it's wonderful.
More than a dictionary... November 11, 2008 An excellent book for my 4 year old boy who is learning to sight read. Each word has a picture and many are used in a sentence. This is a great format for this "first" dictionary. The fact that it features the much-loved "George" is just a bonus.
$11; What a bargain! July 24, 2008 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I see why I'm the first reviewer. The discription says everything and plainly. But I'd like to add that if I were just learning to read/speak english, this would be my first purchase. This book was rated for 9-12 year old readers; well I bought it for my 5yr old grandson, but think that my 2yr old will enjoy it also.
