Amazon.com Review The book that started the phenomenon is now available in a deluxe collector's edition! Featuring a ribbon bookmark, cloth cover, ragged edges, new chapter opener designs, and a beautiful protective slipcase, this edition is perfect for fans and collectors alike.BRBRBella Swan's move to Forks, a small, perpetually rainy town in Washington, could have been the most boring move she ever made. But once she meets the mysterious and alluring Edward Cullen, Bella's life takes a thrilling and terrifying turn. Up until now, Edward has managed to keep his vampire identity a secret in the small community he lives in, but now nobody is safe, especially Bella, the person Edward holds most dear. BRBRDeeply romantic and extraordinarily suspenseful, EMTwilight/EM captures the struggle between defying our instincts and satisfying our desires. This is a love story with bite.
Product Description "Softly he brushed my cheek, then held my face between his marble hands. ''Be very still,'' he whispered, as if I wasn''t already frozen. Slowly, never moving his eyes from mine, he leaned toward me. Then abruptly, but very gently, he rested his cold cheek against the hollow at the base of my throat. " As Shakespeare knew, love burns high when thwarted by obstacles. In Twilight, an exquisite fantasy by Stephenie Meyer, readers discover a pair of lovers who are supremely star-crossed. Bella adores beautiful Edward, and he returns her love. But Edward is having a hard time controlling the blood lust she arouses in him, because--he''s a vampire. At any moment, the intensity of their passion could drive him to kill her, and he agonizes over the danger. But, Bella would rather be dead than part from Edward, so she risks her life to stay near him, and the novel burns with the erotic tension of their dangerous and necessarily chaste relationship.Meyer has achieved quite a feat by making this scenario completely human and believable. She begins with a familiar YA premise (the new kid in school), and lulls us into thinking this will be just another realistic young adult novel. Bella has come to the small town of Forks on the gloomy Olympic Peninsula to be with her father. At school, she wonders about a group of five remarkably beautiful teens, who sit together in the cafeteria but never eat. As she grows to know, and then love, Edward, she learns their secret. They are all rescued vampires, part of a family headed by saintly Carlisle, who has inspired them to renounce human prey. For Edward''s sake they welcome Bella, but when a roving group of tracker vampires fixates on her, the family is drawn into a desperate pursuit to protect the fragile human in their midst. The precision and delicacy of Meyer''s writing lifts this wonderful novel beyond the limitations of the horror genre to a place among the best of YA fiction. (Ages 12 and up)

romance novel January 9, 2009 This contains spoilers, please do not read if you have not read all four of the books. A female fantasy, the books represent exactly what girls young and old dream about, the vampire aspect is just added on to make the story a little more interesting. I felt cheated, because if I wanted to read a cheap romance novel I would have turned away. I bought the book because it was on the best seller list and the movie came out, so I thought it must be good if it was already made into a movie. I am not going to analyze the writing, many have done before me. In some aspect the author is extremely talented, because the books do draw you in, she is spot on describing how falling in love feels like, and later on how heartbreak feels like. However, the last book in the series, I was embarrassed to read someone else's wishful thinking or daydreaming. I gave this one star because it is very very damaging for young girls to read a book like this and think that it has something to do with reality. The heroine suffers from such low self esteem and yet manages to be popular. If girls behaved like Bella they would spend their lives as spinsters. There is nothing less attractive from a male perspective than the total lack of self confidence. The book is like a drug for females only comparable perhaps to magazines showing a lot of skin made for the male population.
Apalling that this is a bestseller January 9, 2009 I used to read a lot of Anne Rice novels, so, although skeptical, I picked this up. If you are looking for a cool vampire novel with interesting, developed characters and lots of action, then this is not it. If you are looking for a poorly written and boring romance novel with no sex, no actual believable romance and a few vampires thrown into it, then read this book.br /br /There's not a lot I can say that the other 1-star reviewers haven't already said. The language is boring and repetitive. The characters are annoying, flat at best and hardly compelling. The author kind of just focuses on stating obsessively how attractive Edward is. The plot is unoriginal and predictable. It made me very sorry to see that this book was a bestseller, as most romance novels top it in entertainment value.br /br /Suggestions for making this read exciting if you have already purchased the book: drink every time you see the word "gaze," "adonis," or "serapic" (Don't worry, there are tons of other words you can choose from that get used ad nauseam).
