Amazon.com Review All sorts of people ride roller coasters, people over a certain height that is. Marla Frazee zooms in on one pony-tailed girl who has never experienced a roller coaster before, ever, in this start-to-finish ride. The anticipation builds much like it does in real-life: "S-l-o-w-l-y the train is pulled up the hill by a chain. IClickity, clackity. Clickity, clackity/I. Up. Up. Up. And then..." As the train zips and zooms and dips and dives, the pony-tailed girl in the very front seat loves every minute, or almost. In the end, "Most of these people are dizzy./ Some of them have wobbly knees./ But at least one of them is planning/ to ride the roller coaster again." Frazee's crisply detailed watercolor drawings of waiting people, happy people, terrified people, and dizzy people are fun to peruse. Youngsters who are Disneyland-bound (or who would just like to be) may be the best audience for this minute-by-minute replay of a roller-coaster ride. (Ages 4 to 7) I--Karin Snelson/I

not for ages 4-8, for much younger December 23, 2008 The age range listed on amazon for this book is extremely misleading. I bought it for my 7 year old nephew and it's more appropriate for my 2 year old daughter.
Great read-aloud December 13, 2008 My second-graders like this book and can relate to the topic. The illustrations are well done.
A Wonderful Ride! August 23, 2008 I love this book!br /br /It's not just one story, but it's many different stories of all the people who decide to ride (or not ride) the roller coaster. The text is simple and fun to read out loud and aptly captures the liveliness of riding a roller coaster. The illustrations are masterful, rich with details and wonderfully expressive characters, but never overly crowded. Each viewing of this book will reward the reader with new surprises and new storylines.br /br /Like the young protagonist in the story, I can't wait to ride this one again!
A Favorite Book August 9, 2008 My 4 year old grandson loves roller coasters so I bought this book for him. Each night I read this book over and over - he never gets tired of it, it's his favorite book. We pretend he is on the roller coaster and I trace his finger over the loops, we start where the people get on and go up the hill very slow and then swoosh down and around, the upside down part is his favorite. This is a fun book with great illustrations.
Wow! May 10, 2008 My first graders loved this book! The details in the illustrations kept them captivated. We felt like we were really on a roller coaster ride! My kids wanted to read it over and over again.
