 This book was a surprisingly good read despite the slow beginning January 8, 2009
I had bought this book over the summer and got about 150 pages into before I left for college and had to focus on reading for my classes. Over this past Christmas break I got back reading this book and I had good hopes for it because two friends of mine had already finished it. I thought the beginning was slow, but I stuck it out because some of the best books or series start out slow. Once I got half way through the book I started to enjoy it and want to see where these characters were end up. I enjoyed the ending, however I did disagree with the age of what was chosen for Wanderer. It seems that with Breaking Dawn I had the same sort of disagreement with age, but all in all I've liked all of Stephanie Meyer's books. Meyer is very good at developing her characters in a way that everyone can relate to them.

I loved this book. I bought it after i finished the Twilight series and was not disappointed. The Host is a great story and I was sad for it to be over, although the ending was good. It started off a little slower than i expected, but picked up quickly. I absolutely love the way Meyer makes u feel like you ARE the narrator. i felt happy when she was happy, cried when she cried. she is a compelling writer and i highly reccommend anything she writes! i cant wait until she writes another piece!!
Very Pleasantly Surprised January 7, 2009
What could have been a cheezy body snatcher basis was skillfully executed and well thought out. I would love to see this as a movie. I hope that there is a sequel and maybe even a prequel to cover the invasion story. Meyer gives some tantilizing tidbits of the peaceful invasion of the souls that could be carried into a full out prequel in with her skill as a writter. I'd love to see more of the comforters role in hosting dinner partys that turn her home into an insertion center where humans walk in and souls walk out.

I really loved it. I was invested in the characters, cared what happened to them, laughed and cried... Meyer is an easy read and her writing style flows well (at least in my head). Hey, it was entertaining and I cared about how it would end (even if I didn't love how everything was "resolved"). Guess they just had to leave it open for another book, huh?

In October I finished the Twilight Saga, and found it hard to pick up another book. I didn't want to be disappointed. I had picked up Stephenie Meyer's book "The Host" in the books store a couple of times but I didn't think it would interest me. Then I read a book review. It said that "The Host" was for those people that say they they don't read alien books, just like "Twilight" was for those people that say they don't read books about vampires. So, I decided to give it a shot.br /br /I was surprised. I really liked it. There is danger, love, and you just can't put the book down. I just wonder how Stephenie comes up with these ideas. Eventhough it is an adult novel, the story line is mild enough that young adults could read it too. Just like I fell in love with the characters from "Twilight", I can't get the characters in this book out of my mind. You'll fall in love with them too.br /br /So, if you liked "Twilight", I am pretty certain you'll like this book too.
