Amazon.com Review For anyone who ever doubted it, Todd Parr is here to tell us all that it's okay to be different. With his signature artistic style, featuring brightly colored, childlike figures outlined in heavy black, Parr shows readers over and over that just about anything goes. From the sensitive ("It's okay to be adopted"--the accompanying illustration shows a kangaroo with a puppy in her pouch) to the downright silly ("It's okay to eat macaroni and cheese in the bathtub"), kids of every shape, size, color, family makeup, and background will feel included in this gentle, witty book. In this simple, playful celebration of diversity, Parr doesn't need to hammer readers over the head with his message. p Parr is well known for his funky feel-good titles, including IThings That Make You Feel Good/Things That Make You Feel Bad/I, IUnderwear Do's and Don'ts/I, and IThis Is My Hair/I. (Ages 3 to 6) I--Emilie Coulter/I

It's good for starting discussions. December 1, 2008 It's not my favorite book but I have often used it with my son (as both a three and four year old) to discuss different things - especially adoption. I think it's a handy book to have but I don't think it's the best book for addressing differences with children.
Its OK to be GReat!! October 20, 2008 What a colorful wonderful book. This is the third copy I have purchased. I am a elementary school counselor and I love seeing the children's eyes light up when they hear a page that applies to their own little life. It is even more interesting to see teachers who are furiously at work on lesson plans, lift their heads and smile as they can't help but stop and listen to this heartwarming little book that makes us all feel special despite our challenges. I have four kids of my own and we enjoy it here at home also. Todd Parr hits us right in the heart and makes us all sit up and take notice with this simple yet powerful book.
It's Ok to be Different September 6, 2008 wonderful resource for children in K-3 or for older children to read to younger children. We need more tools like this to sensitize human beings at an early age, that we are all different.
Kind of familiar August 19, 2008 A great book about acceptance of diversity that a kid can grasp! It casually deals with our differences and helps kids to realize that we all come in different shapes and sizes, and that is OK!!!br / br /P.s.-If you have this book, no need to pick up,"The Okay Book" It is very similar.
Courtesy of Kids @ Teens Read Too February 28, 2008 If you haven't yet discovered the magic that is TODD'S WORLD, I recommend that you do so today! This series is great fun for both children and adults alike, whether it be in the form of a book or a video. Todd Parr knows what appeals to kids -- bold, bright, colorful illustrations and characters that are all unique in their own special way.br /br /With IT'S OKAY TO BE DIFFERENT, children of all ages learn that no matter what your difference -- being in a wheelchair, being embarrassed, having different moms or dads, having an invisible friend -- it's perfectly A-OK. From the fanciful to the truthful to the whimsical, all kinds of differences are explored in ways that are easy to understand for the youngest reader, but that will also send home a message to those who are older.br /br /This is one book you need in your personal collection!br /br /Reviewed by: Jennifer Wardrip, aka "The Genius"
